Join Joanna Dudzinska of Talking and Exploring for a guided walk through Park Royal, tracing the histories, industries, communities and creative practices that have shaped London’s largest industrial district.
Beginning at North Acton Square, the walk moves through the working landscape of Park Royal, exploring how manufacturing, food production, art, design and making exist alongside one another, and how successive communities and patterns of migration have contributed to the area's character today.
Along the way, Joanna will make a series of short stops at Manufactory venues and projects, including Excelsior Studios, 57 Gorst Road, Collector & Co., Queensrollahouse, Q-Metals and Bill Amberg Studio, offering glimpses into the different forms of production taking place across the district.
Rather than a conventional tour of individual exhibitions, the walk uses the festival as a route through Park Royal itself – its architecture, industrial histories, people and changing uses – giving participants a wider understanding of the conditions in which its creative and manufacturing communities operate.
The walk finishes at Standard Market on Standard Road, where participants can discover a selection of food producers from Park Royal and beyond, before continuing to explore the wider Manufactory programme independently.
The walk is designed as an introduction to the district: a chance to look more closely at a part of London that is often passed through rather than explored, and to discover some of the people, places and forms of production that exist within it.
